What is Percentage Calculator?
Three percentage calculations in one place: find a percentage of a number, work out what share one number is of another, and measure percentage change between two values — each updating as you type.
How to use Percentage Calculator
- For “X% of Y”, enter the percentage and the value to get the result.
- For “X is what % of Y”, enter the part and the total.
- For percentage change, enter the starting and ending values — increases show as positive, decreases as negative.
Why use this tool?
Percentage change done correctly
Change is measured against the starting value, which is the step people most often get backwards when comparing before-and-after figures.
Everyday uses
Discounts, tips, exam marks, commission, growth rates and price comparisons all reduce to one of these three calculations.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a discount?
Use “X% of Y” with the discount percentage and the original price to get the amount saved, then subtract it. A 25% discount on ₹800 saves ₹200, giving ₹600.
Why is a 50% rise then a 50% fall not back to the start?
Each percentage applies to a different base. 100 rises to 150, then 50% of 150 is 75 — so you end at 75, not 100.
