How much can I reduce an image size by?
It depends on the original, but photographs typically shrink by 60–85% at 75% quality with very little visible difference. Screenshots and graphics with flat colour compress less because they are already efficient.
Will compressing reduce the image quality?
JPEG compression is lossy, so some data is discarded — but at 70–85% quality the difference is usually invisible at normal viewing sizes. The live preview lets you judge for yourself before downloading.
Does this change the image dimensions?
No. Compression keeps the same width and height and only reduces file size. If you also want smaller dimensions, use the Resize Image tool first.
